Ignite Talks: Rapid Response, Galvanizing the Private Sector (December 9)
For International Anti-Corruption Day, this event was more than just a conversation; it was a call to action. The Ignite Talks highlighted the critical role the private sector plays in responding quickly to crises, fostering innovation, and building resilience in communities worldwide. The strategies and ideas shared have the potential to inspire real-world solutions that can create lasting impact in the face of adversity.
As always, the event was complemented by a delicious spread of food that encouraged networking and further conversation among attendees. The momentum generated that evening promises exciting possibilities ahead. Together, we can galvanize the private sector to not only respond to challenges but also shape a brighter, more sustainable future. A huge thank you to everyone who attended.
Needs, Leads & Brags: Affordable Strategies for 2025 (December 11)
This month's Needs, Leads, & Brags session, hosted by Hub Director Tony Rodriguez, naturally steered toward end-of-year topics and ideas to try in 2025. Nonprofits face unique challenges as they balance limited budgets with high-impact missions. Here are some free or extremely affordable resources that might be worth exploring:
Google for Nonprofits: Offers free or discounted access to tools like Google Workspace, YouTube for Nonprofits, and Google Ad Grants, providing up to $10,000 per month in ad credits.
Asana and Trello: Project management platforms that offer free or discounted plans for nonprofits to streamline workflows and enhance team collaboration. Check out Asana for Nonprofits and Trello's options.
Classy.org: A fundraising platform that provides tools for peer-to-peer campaigns, event fundraising, and donation management at discounted rates. Learn more.
Bonus idea, virtual volunteering: Use platforms like VolunteerMatch or Catchafire to connect with skilled professionals willing to donate their expertise.
Pizza & Proficiency: Empowering Every Voice (December 12)
We were thrilled with the success of our Pizza and Proficiency event, hosted by the amazing Goodie Okechukwu, a global communications strategist, who led a powerful conversation centered on empowering every voice, regardless of accent, through education. The event also highlighted the importance of promoting accent-inclusive policies and procedures in both professional and educational spaces. A big thank you to Goodie for guiding us through meaningful discussions on how we can continue to create environments where every voice is valued and heard.

Data Foundation Open House & 2024 Datum Awards Reception (December 13)
The 2024 Datum Awards, hosted at the Open Gov Hub, were presented by Hub Member the Data Foundation to a distinguished group of government data champions who are advancing the use of data for the public good. These individuals are leading initiatives that harness data to drive evidence-based decision-making, transparency, and accountability within the federal government. They were selected based on their ability to champion data-driven decision-making, promote transparency, engage stakeholders, and drive accountability.
As we look ahead to 2025, the Data Foundation remains committed to highlighting those who are leading the charge in making government data more accessible, usable, and impactful. Congratulations to the 2024 Datum Award recipients!
