Open Gov Hub works with several organizations to provide internship opportunities and valuable insight to developing young professionals from around the country and abroad. Interns learn about operations of a nonprofit and work on a variety of projects throughout their time at the Hub, while expanding their network of professionals in the D.C. area.

Jurstin Paesch
2026 TFAS Intern
During his internship at Open Gov Hub, Jurstin supported the Operations Manager with event coordination and client services, helping create welcoming and memorable experiences. As an International Tourism Management student from Aruba, he gained valuable hands-on experience in nonprofit event operations.
Reflecting on his experience, Jurstin shares: “The team made me feel welcome and supported from day one. I am incredibly grateful for this experience and would highly recommend Open Gov Hub to students seeking a meaningful internship in Washington, D.C.”

Priscila Ramirez
2026 TFAS Intern
During her internship at Open Gov Hub, Priscila supported communications, operations, and member engagement. She created social media content, photographed events, helped organize Community Day, and improved the Hub’s Slack workspace. She also supported partner storytelling projects and assisted with daily mail operations.
Priscila is entering her senior year at the University of Richmond, where she is double majoring in Economics and American Studies. She is passionate about public service and leadership and hopes to build a career advancing positive social and civic impact.

Rachel Witherspoon
2026 TFAS Intern
During her internship at Open Gov Hub, Rachel supported policy research, democratic innovation, and communications. She researched participatory governance and civic engagement with the Federation for Innovation in Democracy and created social media content for Hub events and initiatives.
Rachel studies Political Science at the University of South Carolina and hopes to pursue a career in law and public service, focusing on constitutional law, human rights, and democratic institutions.

Nyle Malik
2026 TFAS Intern
During his internship at Open Gov Hub, Nyle supported financial forecasting, partnership development, and data management. He built databases to improve operational efficiency and contributed to the Donor and Partnership Pipeline, a pro bono collaboration with CCSD focused on funding civil society initiatives in Syria.
Nyle studies Quantitative Economics with a minor in Mathematics at Brandeis University. He also serves as Deputy Treasurer of the Student Union, competes on the varsity track and field team, and works with the university’s Police Department.

Billie van Leeuwen
2026 TFAS Intern
During their fellowship at Open Gov Hub, they contributed to Defending Democracy 2.0, a project examining democratic backsliding at the state and county levels and how nonprofit organizations have responded to strengthen U.S. democracy. They also gathered research data for Hub members and organized a farewell event for interns and the Hub community.

Joyce Ma
2026 TFAS Intern
During her internship at Open Gov Hub, Joyce served as the lead front desk intern and primary point of contact for members. She welcomed visitors, supported daily operations, resolved printing issues, handled phone inquiries, and opened the Hub each morning. She also gained experience with Nexudus, Cove, and Kastle, and used Canva to create posters for events such as Hub Community Day and Hub Cereal Day.
Joyce is entering her sophomore year at Wellesley College, where she majors in Economics and minors in Music. She values her time at Open Gov Hub and hopes to return to the Hub and Washington, D.C. in the future.

Sara Little
2026 TFAS Intern
During her internship at Open Gov Hub, Sara supported Canva and marketing projects. Her main project was creating the 2026 Semi-Annual Newsletter. She also wrote a Community Day blog post, designed promotional posters, created Welcome Wednesday materials, and assisted with instructional guides.
Sara is entering her senior year at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, where she majors in Political Science and minors in Women’s Studies.

Edison Frangu
2017-18 Atlas Corps Fellow
Edison’s fellowship experience at the Open Gov Hub was so impactful that he went on to found and is currently the Executive Director of Open Gov Hub Albania.
He is a licensed lawyer with the Albanian Chamber of Advocacy and has served as an advisor to local and national government institutions, including the Parliament of Albania. He is also a university lecturer and passionate trainer on topics ranging from anti-corruption to diaspora engagement.

Yeukai Mukorombindo
2018-2019 Open Gov Hub Community Catalyst
During her time as a Hub Catalyst, Yeukai provided daily support to a diverse community of open government organizations, fostering connections and promoting peer learning across the Hub’s member network. She conducted a social network analysis of the multi-member network, identifying opportunities to deepen collaboration and strengthen thematic partnerships within the open government ecosystem. She currently serves as a Program Officer at the National Endowment for Democracy, where she supports local actors in defending and promoting democracy, human rights, and good governance in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Ahmed Al Tamimi
2021–2023 Open Gov Hub
Lead Community CatalystAhmed spearheaded the development of the Media Lab, creating a collaborative space for members to produce high-quality multimedia content. He led the design of the lab’s setup, curated equipment and facilitated training to help members improve their social media presence.
After his tenure at the Hub, Ahmed joined the International Rescue Committee as a Senior Program Officer for Monitoring & Compliance, overseeing national monitoring frameworks, evaluating program outcomes, and ensuring adherence to refugee federal grant policies.

Amine Hachani
2024 CSP Intern
At the Hub, Amine developed a legacy report of historical data, created professional development and capacity-building resources for members, and supported event coordination and daily operations.
He currently serves as Program Manager at Copeace Organization, a nonprofit fighting against violence and hate crimes on social media, and creates a community for activists and cybercrime victims.

Lillian Smith
2024 TFAS Intern
At the Hub, Lillian coordinated with the global affiliate network (GAH) to enhance resource sharing through weekly updates and outreach. She also helped with event execution and workshops hosted by Hub members.
She is currently entering her senior year at Wofford College, where she studies International Affairs and Spanish. This summer, she is interning with a non-profit in Charleston, SC that works to provide education to children in South Carolina.

Amani Bisimwa
2024 CEE Data Management Intern
At the Hub, Amani designed and implemented a data management system, automated workflows to consolidate data across many platforms, and developed an interactive ArcGIS map to visualize members’ operational areas.
He currently serves as the MEAL Coordinator at AVSI Foundation, overseeing monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning systems for humanitarian and development projects in conflict-affected areas. He also works in tech training and data-driven project management.

Kristian Dardeli
2024 Open Gov Hub Community Intern
At the Hub, Kristian supported daily operations, assisted with organizing and hosting events, and managed social media across multiple platforms—revitalizing and repurposing existing Hub content to expand its reach in the areas of public policy and open, accountable institutions.
He is currently a second-year student at the University of Virginia, where he plans to enter the Batten School of Public Policy and Leadership while also pursuing Spanish as a second major.

Niek Franzen
2024 TFAS Intern
At the Hub, Niek set up a database of contacts and implemented a new CRM system featuring automations. He also made website updates with a focus on integrating various IT and online systems.
He currently serves as the Risk & Control Specialist at Ahold Delhaize, a multinational retail and wholesale holding company. His work involves collaborating with all business units to identify, manage and mitigate enterprise risks.

Gray worked on CRM and automation support, lead tracking and sales outreach, data cleaning, and workflow automation.

2025 TFAS Intern - Mercer University
Sophia worked on social media content creation across platforms and website design and restructuring. She also assisted with Hub-member policy research projects.

Bong Realiza Jr.
2025 TFAS Intern - Elon University
Bong provided CRM and automation support, data cleaning and systems management, and geospatial and visual data analysis (ArcGIS).

Kate Jaramillo
2025 TFAS Intern - University of Arizona
Kate worked on social media content creation and strategy across various platforms, as well as Hub-member research initiatives, with a focus on economic research and analysis.

2025 TFAS Intern - University of Maryland
Cobi worked on organizational and promotional projects, assisting with Hub-member research initiatives, with a focus on policy research.

Siqi Chen
2025 TFAS Intern - University of Texas at Austin
Siqi worked on CRM database updates and automation, data cleaning, and workflow optimization. She also supported financial reconciliation projects.

Gyanendra Mishra
2025 Atlas Corps Fellow
As an Atlas Corps Fellow, he has collaborated with global teams in New York and Washington, D.C., focusing on nonprofit management, cross-cultural partnerships, and capacity building.
At the Hub, Gyan increased operational capacity, updated, and improved all operational training manuals.
