Open Gov Hub Blog: April & May 2024

Here's a look back at what happened at the Hub in April and May 2024.

Needs, Leads & Brags: AI (May 8)

Hosted by Hub Director Tony Rodriguez

This month's NL&B session focused on the rapid, unchecked advances of artificial intelligence. A couple of AI-related events followed:

  • "Next Steps in AI" (May 10): A virtual panel discussion hosted from Madrid by the Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP).

  • Pizza & Proficiency: AI & Cyber Security (May 15): A hybrid lunchtime session at the Hub.

John Healy's smartphone video workshop, April 2024

Introduction to Smartphone Video Making (April)

Looking to improve your smartphone video skills? John Healy's (Artful Citizen) workshop offered invaluable tips to help you capture high-quality, engaging content. Here are three key takeaways from his session:

  1. Scout your location: Always check the lighting and sound quality before filming. A little reconnaissance goes a long way!

  2. Think visually: Plan your shots with a storyboard to create a clear and engaging narrative.

  3. Keep it short: Aim for videos no longer than 1 minute to maintain viewer engagement.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for this event. Stay tuned for more exciting events coming your way!

Needs, Leads & Brags (April 10)

Hosted by Hub Director Tony Rodriguez

This month's NL&B session kicked off a slightly new format, and a new day. With a full hour now dedicated to NL&B, we've created an even more flexible format to make it even easier to attend.

One of the "Leads" shared was the expertise of Llanco Talamantes, Designer at Development Gateway: "Design shouldn't come naturally to a lot of the Hub Members... please let them know I'm here to help."
