A Midday Pause for Mindfulness

In the middle of a busy work week, Open Gov Hub members gathered on September 4th for a refreshing one-hour session of Mindfulness and Meditation. Hosted by Witnessing Mind and gracefully facilitated by Ms. Nilu Rimal, the workshop offered participants a much-needed opportunity to pause, breathe, and reconnect with themselves.

Breathing into Stillness

The session began with a simple yet powerful breathing practice. Ms. Nilu reminded us that just a few mindful breaths can calm both the body and the mind. Her gentle guidance created an atmosphere of relaxation, encouraging everyone to let go of distractions and be present in the moment.

Sholaka and the Power of Sound

Sholaka practice, a form of pranayama (prayer), brought a soothing rhythm to the room. The collective chanting created a sense of harmony, reminding us of the power of sound in grounding our thoughts and emotions.

Yoga Without a Mat: The Chair Practice

The most innovative part of the workshop was the unique chair yoga session. Instead of traditional floor mats, participants learned gentle postures and stretches that could be done while sitting in an office chair. This practical approach made yoga more accessible, proving that one doesn't need special equipment or extra space to embrace mindfulness at work. From shoulder stretches to gentle twists, the exercises were designed to release tension and improve focus: tools that can easily be integrated into a regular workday.

A Relaxing Takeaway

As the session came to a close, participants expressed how relaxed, focused, and refreshed they felt. Many appreciated the creativity of practicing yoga on chairs, which they could replicate in the office anytime. The workshop wasn't just a break; it was an inspiring reminder that mindfulness can seamlessly fit into our daily routines.

✨ Thank you to Ms. Nilu Rimal and Witnessing Mind for leading us on this mindful journey. We look forward to more such moments of calm and connection at Open Gov Hub.
